WAR takes action against all forms of animal abuse. This page outlines some of the industries we oppose, explains why we take action against them, and highlights what you can do to help us.
Many aspects of everyday life are built upon foundations of animal abuse, from the food we eat, to the clothes we wear, and the entertainment we consume. In many cases, these areas of abuse overlap, or create new ones. For example, millions of animals are experimented on to make dairy farms ever more intensive and productive. As a result, pregnant horses are farmed for their urine, which is used to promote fertility in dairy cows. Fertility is vital for mammals to produce milk, but the inevitable calves are seen as a bi-product; killed immediately or sold for veal. With claims that badgers pass TB to dairy cows, 100,000 wild badgers have been shot in a shambolic and unjustified cull. Inside the filthy and overcrowded farms where the cows are raised, serious zoonotic viruses (such as bird flu, swine flu, SARS, and Covid-19) are rife. When these viruses pass to humans, millions more animals are used in horrific experiments in the search for vaccines and treatments. It is an endless cycle of violence and suffering, all for a glass of milk.
